History
The original gay lovespoonCupid has been given a couple of extra arrows to put in his quiver. A variety of Welsh lovespoons have been created for gay and lesbian couples who want to make a loving gesture by giving their partner a token of their affection. The ancient custom of carving and giving Welsh lovespoons dates back to the 17th century. Originally, they were made by young men as a token of their love and affection for their girlfriends. All living traditions need to evolve. This is a natural progression for the welsh lovespoon to be directed at same sex couples. These new welsh lovespoons are available in a variety of styles, are all hand made and all have two entwined gender symbols to denote the gay and lesbian versions.
The idea was inspired by the remarkable and fascinating story of the 'Ladies of Llangollen' who are revered as icons for the gay community. |
